The Burgettstown Area School District is on a journey to re-imagine what school could be. During the 15-16 school year, makerspaces were added to the Elementary Center and Middle High School Library Media Center. The spaces are equipped with high and low tech materials for making. Students are encouraged to tinker and explore, while solving real-world problems related to subject matter, as well as areas of personal interest. Through partnerships with local businesses, educational organizations, and neighboring school districts, they have expanded their knowledge, resources, and allies in learning. They strive to engage both students and teachers in hands-on, minds-on learning opportunities that promote creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
