Adelphoi is a private, non-profit agency dedicated to providing a continuum of quality services to children, youth and families. Headquartered in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, the agency offers exemplary and affordable human services programs that assist persons in need from over 60 counties. Established in 1971 as a single group home for troubled boys, the agency has expanded into an extensive network of community-based programs and services to over 950 boys and girls and their families on a daily basis.
Adelphoi Ketterer Charter School was the first public charter school in Westmoreland County founded in 1998. The charter school serves as a local education agency with the same responsibilities for Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) as all other Pennsylvania public schools. The charter school was created to address the specific needs of disruptive youth. Ketterer Charter School’s niche is that their student population consists mainly of adjudicated youth from across Pennsylvania who are considered neglected and/or delinquent and students from our local school districts who are having difficulties conforming to a traditional public school setting. Ketterer Charter School’s student population is very unique. On average, daily membership consist of 215 students although the charter school provides educational services to more than 500 student annually. Ketterer Charter School provides FAPE to secure, residential, independent living, day treatment, alternative education and emotional support students. On average, our student population consist of 56% special education and 87% disadvantaged youth.
Adelphoi Education Services provides alternative education services to school districts, as well as elementary school programs and credit recovery programs. Adelphoi believes that all students can be motivated to learn through content matter that is relevant to their lives and through increased opportunities for individualized attention.
