The Carnegie Melon University (CMU) engineering college’s DEI office is working to bring CMU students into local Pittsburgh K-12 schools beginning mid-March through the end of April (for undergraduate students) and through mid-June (for graduate students), to teach STEM lessons and to support current lab curriculum needs where extra pairs of hands might be needed.

Many of the students went through PA Act 153 clearance processes last semester in order to volunteer! The CMU engineering college’s DEI office will continue this program through the upcoming academic years. They hope to do more local work with Pittsburgh teachers, ideally within a 30-minute drive of CMU.
