Since the first class graduated in 2003, over 150 educators have taken part in Leadership Academy.

Leadership Academy gives educators a chance to try new artforms, make connections, and develop a structured action plan to strengthen arts education. In 2021, AEC hosted an amazing cohort of arts educators in a hybrid (mostly virtual) setting. Their summer intensive featured a group of spirited guests including performance artist and educator Benjamin Lundberg Torres Sanchez, education consultant LaTrenda Leonard Sherrill, yoga instructor and entrepreneur Alicia Dawn of Yogamotif, and creative arts duo Magic Organs: DS Kinsel and Julie Mallis.

Participants in the 2021 cohort not only crafted action plans and gained new skills and resources for leadership, but also learned how to authentically build equity and racial justice practices into their arts ed work
