Carnegie Science Center (CSC) connects science and technology with everyday life through hands-on science fun. Their visitors explore and interact with robots, investigate the wonders of the human body, and discover river science and animals. Plus, they enjoy engaging astronomy shows in a planetarium, live theater shows, sports challenges and a ropes course, a real submarine, a huge model railroad – and movies on Pittsburgh’s biggest screen! In addition to providing valuable scientific experiences, CSC offers outreach programs that serve Pittsburgh’s diverse community. The Science Center is located on Pittsburgh’s North Shore along the banks of the Ohio River and is accessible to persons with disabilities.

Workforce and Community Readiness Program Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of programming aimed at developing students’ core career and community readiness, and successfully preparing youth with the skills and creative agency for the 21st-century workforce. The coordinator will assist with the delivery of other CSC flagship programs, as needed. The coordinator participates in a team approach to ensure the smooth development, operation, and delivery of overall STEM events, internships, mentoring programs, and workforce/community readiness activities and experiences. This position requires a high level of organization.

The coordinator is also responsible for collaborating with the Readiness Institute of Penn State (RIPSU) and other partnering organizations to provide clear pathways to workforce readiness and assisting STEM Content Developers with lesson planning and curriculum resource development. The coordinator will develop 9-12 programming aimed at developing students’ problem solving, process design, collaboration, communication, and technical skills. The coordinator is responsible for working with the STEM Events and Competitions team and the Educational Content team to develop innovative and popular educational programming and enhancements that advance the vision and mission of CSC.
