Join Arts Education Collaboration on Monday, October 11 (Indigenous People’s Day) for an open session of Leadership Academy. All, including teaching artists, are welcome! Meet this year’s cohort, participate in morning and afternoon sessions focused on equity in evaluation and research, and connect with arts ed colleagues to discuss different topics during a networking lunch.
Leadership Academy gives educators a chance to try new artforms, make connections, and develop a structured action plan to strengthen arts education.
Session details:
- Morning session (10:15–11:45 am): Justin Laing discusses shifting power to Black youth in participatory research
- Lunch (12–1 pm): Join colleagues and peers on Wonder to talk culturally responsive arts ed (CRAE), remote learning, assessment, and more. Organizers will send out a link to Wonder the day before to anyone wishing to attend the networking lunch.
- Afternoon (1:15–2:45 pm): Delana Flowers and Sister IAsia Thomas share their Remake Learning Shifting Power projects focused on Black Identity and Independence in the Special Ed Classroom and Making a Case for African-Centered Education
The Arts Ed Collab has also created a new virtual gathering space—AEC Networks. If joining on 10/11 and wishing to connect with AEC, peers in other schools, or organizations, they encourage attendees to become a member of AEC Networks!
