As the school year begins and families receive their new hybrid schedules, questions about how to support student learning during the days when kids are not in the school building arose.  In response, Neighborhood North and Trails Ministries have partnered with the Big Beaver Falls Area school district to develop Neighborhood Learning Pods for students in Pre-K through 5th grade.

WHAT IS IT?

Neighborhood Learning Pods are quiet, neighborhood locations staffed with qualified and caring adults who will support online student learning.  Staff and volunteers will work with the children’s teacher to ensure that student’s assignments are completed via Google Classroom. Additionally, through a collaboration with local colleges and area artist groups, supportive, creative, hands-on learning opportunities for students will further enhance language and math skills and help reduce stress.

WHO IS IT FOR?

Any student in Pre-K through 5th grade in the Beaver Falls school district may participate. A maximum of 20 students per pod will be accepted.  This is a FREE program but registration is required. CDC practices will be in place at each location and children will be required to wear masks.

WHERE ARE THESE?

The Learning Pods will be housed at The Well (1401 6th Ave) and Neighborhood North (716 14th St).    Busing is available if needed.

WHEN WILL THESE BE HELD?

Learning Pods will be available on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 10:00 AM– 2:00 PM, beginning the week of September 14th.  Students will attend during the days they are not in the classroom and free Breakfast and Lunches will be provided to all Beaver Falls students enrolled in the program.

Students must bring their own Chromebooks or iPads, charging cord, earbuds or earphones, and all school assignments. Masks are required.
