Students are often described as “future leaders,” and while this is true, it does not recognize that they are also leaders right now! In this workshop, participants will examine student voice in the classroom and explore how creating a culture that encourages student voice can build students as leaders in their school today. Participants will unpack how adultism shows up in their schools, look at student voice frameworks to find examples of student’s voices in their schools, and identify strategies that can be implemented immediately to encourage a culture of student voice.

Goals:

  • Define “adultism” and examples of how this shows up in schools

  • Explore models of student voice/agency

  • Identify specific actions that can be implemented immediately to encourage a culture of student voice

This workshop is being offered from 12:00pm – 1:00pm EST and 5:00pm – 6:00pm EST on Wednesday, April 28.
