ARYSE is seeking candidates to work at their summer program, PRYSE Academy. There are two positions currently available: Director and Counselor.

PRYSE Academy is a summer camp for immigrant youth in middle and high school. The program focuses on academic preparedness, creative expression, and community engagement, and the counselor position is integral to all daily operations. During the first half of the day, counselors lead classrooms of approximately 15-20 students in academic sessions, supervise larger groups of students during workshops, soccer, and lunch, and ensure that students safely arrive and depart camp every day. During the second half of the day, we bring in local artists and other partners who focus on various forms of creative expression – this includes dancers, artists, painters, writers, and more. PRYSE Academy culminates in a showcase where PRYSE students get to show-off what they worked on throughout camp to their friends and family members.

Prior to PRYSE Academy, counselors attend a mandatory two-week, all day training to prepare for the program, e.g. gain skills in carrying out restorative practices and conflict resolution, learn tips and tricks for teaching English as a second language, and develop relationships with their fellow counselors. This training will take place from June 22nd to July 3rd. Dates may be subject to a slight change.

Camp takes place over a course of 4 weeks, Monday-Friday, with students arriving at 8:30am and departing at 4:00pm. This year the dates for camp are July 6th to July 31st, but may be subject to a slight change.
**Counselors are required to be at both weeks of training and at camp every day, from 8:00am-4:30pm.**

This is a paid hourly position ($8.50/hour for 30-40 hours/week over 6 weeks), however other forms of compensation can be considered (i.e. volunteer hours, credit hours). Please indicate your preference in the application when prompted.

If you are unable to commit fully to this time-frame, but still want to participate in PRYSE Academy, check out our Volunteer Application here: https://forms.gle/HW99qcCmmHUKigPC9
