The Social Studies Network of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit is pleased to be hosting the second biennial Social Studies Symposium and Showcase on Tuesday October 22, 2019. The theme of the conference is Show Me the Evidence! It focuses on how educators can empower their students to “do” Social Studies by utilizing evidence to make their claims. This symposium aims to provide educators with resources and practical ideas for promoting active participation in children’s learning, utilizing content to develop competency in the more enduring understandings of the field.

K-12 Social Studies teachers, curriculum directors, department heads, school leaders and anyone interested in or responsible for K-12 Social Studies curriculum and instruction are invited to attend. The morning will feature an array of power-talks and a wide variety of institutions, organizations, and vendors from the region will be available to discuss school programming options.
