In collaboration with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit’s Math & Science Collaborative and TransformEd, Clean Energy Bright Futures (CE), is offering a FREE two-day workshop, October 15 and 16, open to K-8 teachers and focusing on inquiry and engineering linked to clean energy and grid modernization topics. This workshop is generously funded by the Arconic Foundation.
CE is a career-connected educational program that works to address the increasingly urgent workforce gap in the energy sector and ensure that all citizens have the ability to become active participants in the clean energy economy.
In this two-day workshop teachers will work through rigorous hands-on activities aligned to best practice exploratory techniques in Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to build a content background and confidence in various tools. Topics may include battery science, wind turbine engineering, solar cars, solar circuitry data collection, grid dynamics, and basic energy transformations.
Teachers will also be provided with space and time to collaboratively plan new activities into their current curriculum.
All attendees will be provided with:
- Substitute reimbursement
- Lunch
- Access to a free teacher-generated curriculum
- Hands-on science kits for their classrooms
