The Western Pennsylvania Writing Project works to improve the teaching and learning of literacies through teacher-centered professional learning, community-building, and collaborative youth work. The Summer Institute for Teachers focuses on writing development, professional inquiry, and teacher leadership. Teachers as Thinkers goes a next step and tackles systemic issues through reflection, creativity, and networking.
Offered Monday through Friday, 8:30 am-3:30 pm, July 22-26, at Fanny Edel Falk Laboratory School, Teachers as Thinkers will aide participants in considering the complex systems in which practice is embedded, and in figuring ways to disrupt and transform. One credit is available. This workshop is co-facilitated by Melissa Butler and Michelle King, well-known, highly accomplished teacher-leaders in the region.
