ABC CREATE is hosting a 3-day Teachers’ STEAM Camp to help regional educators gain skill and confidence with STE(A)M integration in classrooms, out-of-school time spaces, and curricula. All teachers, all grade levels, all subjects, formal or informal educators, and pre-service are encouraged to attend.
Campers will have fun while immersing themselves in hands-on activities, thought exercises, and design thinking. Campers will hang out with their “peeps” – other inspired and inspiring educators who are energized about changing their approaches to teaching and learning. Campers will explore and consider STEAM topics such as problem-based learning, fostering the entrepreneurial/innovative mindset to support thriving in the 4th Industrial Revolution, data fluency, educational justice, maker education, and digital media resources. Campers will learn about ABC CREATE’s Learning Pathways. Campers will also get hands-on practice with STEM technologies and resources including (but of course, not limited to) coding, robotics, virtual reality, and data visualization. Campers will have time to design lessons plans with collaborative support from peers.
ABC CREATE@Burrell Teachers’ STEAM Camp 2019 is supported by the Arconic Foundation, the Grable Foundation, and the 14 ABC CREATE School Districts, so it’s free to participants. Eligible for ACT 48 credits. (Oh, and lunch will be provide, too!) Particularly designed to encourage teachers who have limited experience (or confidence) with integrating STEAM in to their classrooms. Come for the fun. Leave with ideas and confidence!
