The Society for Science & the Public’s STEM Action Grant program awards innovative nonprofit organizations, led by social entrepreneurs, that support community-based STEM projects and whose work supports the Society’s mission. Grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to selected candidates and announced in June 2019.

Eligible organizations have 501(c)(3) status, serve at least 25 people of any age, and are not managed by middle or high school students still eligible for the Society’s STEM competitions. The Society is looking to fund organizations that:

  • produce mission-driven work aligned with the Society’s mission
  • advocate for the general public’s increased understanding of STEM fields with the goal of producing a science-literate society
  • spark a life-long interest in and appreciation for STEM fields through unique programming, increased accessibility, and exposure to science
  • increase participation of underrepresented populations in STEM fields.

Funding may be used to support a specific project, or for general operating costs. The Society aims to support both new and established organizations.
