The State of Black Learning Conference (SBL) is excited to invite educators to submit a proposal for one or more of the conference’s presentation formats encompassing the themes of love, liberation, and freedom. SBL will host learning providers from across the country on August 15 and August 16, 2019, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to help increase learning provider effectiveness and introduce helpful and innovative tools necessary to address many of the factors that can help improve Black student outcomes and ultimately help disrupt the status quo for Black children in learning ecosystems across the country.

SBL2019 will build on the tradition of having a talented cast of presenters and speakers who believe that their work is purpose-driven to achieve equity and excellence on behalf of the Black students they serve. The conference is calling for proposals from individuals or groups who will lead:

  • Consults 90 Minutes
In-depth, instructional program with hands-on learning activities and specific takeaways.
  • Case Study 60 Minutes
A focused presentation highlighting research findings from relevant initiatives and projects.
  • Show & Share 60 Minutes
An activity-based session that facilitates interactive and creative learning techniques.
  • Talk Backs 60 Minutes
A speaker-led open conversation with attendees around a particular topic.
  • Power Talks 15 Minutes / 15 Minutes Q&A
A short solo presentation highlighting new and emerging ideas.

All presenters should be exciting, excited, and ready to help our participants strengthen and build their intellectual capacity and tool kits to help Black students in the learning ecosystem.

Presentation proposals must be completed by April 30, 2019.
