This opportunity is part of the Center for Creativity’s winter 2019 transformED professional development series.
Google asked teachers to create CS First as an easy-to-approach curriculum for teachers without computer science backgrounds or experience.
In this workshop, participants will receive an introduction to the curriculum’s nine themes, which range from easy to challenging, and teach computer science by breaking it down into smaller, easy-to-master modules. The themes help students make the connection between computer science and things they already do, like storytelling, sports, or playing video games.
Teachers have access to a library of videos that teach the concepts, lesson plans, and answer keys to help check student programming solutions.
Participants should bring laptop or Chromebook, as this will be a hands-on session.
