This opportunity is part of the Center for Creativity’s winter 2019 transformED professional development series.
About the Training:
This workshop is the requisite training to orient teachers to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation STEAM Lending Library. It has been designed to provide participants a high-level understanding of everything available in the Library while developing a deeper expertise around 1-2 select technologies.
Participants will be encouraged to think critically about technology integration, reflecting both on value-add and potential obstacles to instruction. Lastly, participants will learn how to navigate the Lending Library portal to reserve items virtually. Upon successful completion of this training, participants will be eligible to borrow classroom sets of technology at no cost.
Background:
Through the generosity of the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation (PPF) and the Citrone Family, the Allegheny Intermediate Unit has established a STEAM Lending Library, the first of its kind in the nation. The PPF STEAM Lending Library was in response to educators who expressed a desire to use newer technologies with students but who often lacked the awareness, knowledge, and/or financial means to move forward. Teachers in AIU districts are free to borrow classroom sets of resources at no cost.
Please note: While workshop registration is open to all, currently only the 42 AIU “Member Districts” may borrow supplies.
