United Way’s Be A Middle School Mentor (BAMSM) is piloting a STEM Mentoring Partnership with the YWCA’s STEM Stars Program at Woodland Hills Intermediate School in Swissvale. Middle school girls will gather on Mondays and Wednesdays between October and May from 2:45-4:00 pm to support their discovery of STEM.
Mentors will be matched with 2-3 middle school girls and they will assist with guidance and encouragement during the STEM activities provided by STEM Stars. Mentors also can participate in the program’s monthly Saturday Academy held at one of the local colleges or universities.
We are looking for STEM mentors to support this pilot at Woodland Hills Intermediate School. Attached are copies of our BAMSM Flyers. If you are interested or you know of individuals/companies/organizations who are interested in participating in this pilot, please have them contact Kathy Rodriguez at Kathy.rodriguez@unitedwayswpa.org or 412-456-6822.
