STEM Coding Lab, Inc. (SCL) is looking for a Program Director for its afterschool program. We are looking for someone who cares about children, who wants to make a difference in their lives through providing educational opportunity and who wants to help shape & grow this new nonprofit in Pittsburgh, PA.
STEM Coding Lab’s mission is to provide underserved children access to computer resources and education to better prepare them to compete in the digital world. We live in a digital world & a global economy and we need to prepare our children to succeed in this world. Through engaging, hands-on activities we bring computer sciences to elementary & middle school students.
We are looking for an educator with knowledge of computer sciences who is as passionate about providing this opportunity to children as we are. We are looking for an educator who shares our vision – a world where all children have the same opportunity to succeed regardless of income levels.
The Program Director will be responsible for the structure & development of the afterschool program. The director will oversee the daily running of the program, interface with students & their parents as well as program volunteer staff. The Program Director will establish relationships with parents & each student’s day school in order to be aware of personal and/or academic issues that might influence a child’s afterschool experience. The Program Director will also be responsible for overseeing students’ progress & overall program assessments.
The director of the afterschool program will be an integral part of the SCL management team. The program director will assist the Executive Director with recruitment, hiring & training of staff & volunteers.
The ideal candidate will have a background in education and/or computer science, he/she will be a self-starter, comfortable working with others and alone.
The SCL afterschool program is in session 4 days a week – Monday through Thursday. Because of partnerships with the Pittsburgh Public School District (PPSD), we follow the PPSD academic calendar.
This position is currently a part-time position (20 – 25 hours per week) with the possibility to develop into full-time employment as the program grows.
Interested candidates should send their resume & a letter of introduction to Kathleen Conlogue at firstname.lastname@example.org
