SUMMARY:Global Learning for a Local Workforce
DESCRIPTION:Global Learning for a Local Workforce is a professional development opportunity for middle and high school educators\, counselors\, and administrators who are interested in bringing career-connected learning and future readiness—with a global lens—to their students. Educators from all content areas are encouraged to participate! \nRegister by Thursday\, September 10. \nThe program content will be delivered through a combination of 4 in-person and virtual sessions\, including 2 site visits. See below for more information\, and visit our website for continuously updated program details.\n–Session 1: Tues\, Sept 22\, 9AM-2PM @ Siemens Energy and the Advanced Technology Center (Mt. Pleasant) — In-person Site Visit & Workshop\n–Session 2*: Wed\, Oct 14\, 9AM-2PM — Virtual Workshop (Zoom)\n*****Session 2 is open to all educators from 9AM-12PM as standalone opportunity (Act 48 eligible) to learn about a national model of career-connected learning\, regional trends\, and more. This will be followed by an action planning design workshop for cohort members only.\n–Session 3: Thurs\, Oct 29\, 9AM-2PM @ Uniontown Hospital – WVU Medicine (Uniontown) — In-person Site Visit & Workshop\n–Session 4: Wed\, Nov 4\, 9AM-1PM @ TBD local venue — In-person Final Showcase & Networking Lunch\nThere will be approximately 1-2 hours of asynchronous work required in between each session. \nThrough the program\, you will…\n–Gain insights on workforce readiness to help students build relevant durable and technical skills.\n–Apply new resources to create subject-specific content that meets district needs.\n–Engage students in meaningful\, real-world learning experiences.\n–Form partnerships with local employers\, connect with national organizations\, and build networks with other educational and community leaders.\n–Encourage students to explore and think critically about global issues. \nAll participants will receive a $50 Sheetz gift card to help offset travel expenses for in-person sessions. Lunch will be provided on all session days. \nWho is this for?\nThe program is offered at no cost to middle and high school teachers\, counselors\, and administrators in IU1 (Fayette\, Greene\, and Washington County school districts). Neighboring rural Allegheny County and West Virginia schools are also invited to participate. District teams of 2 or more are encouraged to register. \nQuestions?
