Timothy Jones

I am a media researcher and academic leader devoted to the use of media (especially animation) for learning and development of creative professionals. I believe media should be used to build and sustain and serve communities. I seek new ways of putting technology to work in both theoretical and creative practice. As Director of the Academic Media Center (AMC) at Robert Morris University, I help students practice skills and explore identities as media professionals. I seek to equip learners, regardless of background, to excel in creative and critical thinking, as well as collaborative problem solving emerging industry challenges. I am also focused on providing spaces and resources for educators, students and industry stakeholders to work and learn together. As an officer of the new Pennsylvania Expanded Animation Alliance (PA-XAA) I am committed to cultivating a proactive, resilient, and mutually supportive animation ecosystem in our region. I hope to champion workforce development rooted in interdisciplinary collaboration; Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) education; as well as expanded animation practices that go beyond conventional screen-based formats to explore immersive, performative, and pragmatic experiences across diverse aspects of life.
