What’s STEM, you ask? STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math–all fields in which women are traditionally underrepresented. The Girl Scouts of Western Pennsylvania are dedicated to changing this, both through their Spark-funded Robot Algebra Project and through a variety of camps, workshops, and events throughout the region.

The Girl Scouts now have open registration for two camps aimed at increasing girls’ interests in the sciences. Both camps will be held at Camp Redwing in Butler Country.

Imagine That

(Girls grades K-12 – June 17-19; Girls grades 4-7 – July 31 – August 5)

Use your imagination to experiment with art and science. Create amazing inventions with everyday items. Build a mini-robot doodler, make slime, putty and goo, and attempt to turn water upside down without soaking yourself (or anyone else!)

Go Geo

(Girls grades 6-9 – July 5-8)

What’s geocaching? It’s a system of using navigation technology to find hidden treasure! Learn how to use Global Positioning Systems and a compass to navigate. Then, hide your own geocaches and find those set by other teams.

Financial assistance and registration information are available at gswpa.org.
