Our Youth & Media Program teaches and empowers middle and high school students to create digital media that matters. Our students not only get real world exposure, they also learn valuable life skills through the filmmaking process. Examples of this include:collaboration, perseverance, accountability, critical thinking, communication, creative expression, and what it means to be an active and responsible citizen.
We provide hands-on technical experience by teaching the basics of film production:
- Camera Operation
- Storyboarding and more!
Our mission is for students to learn valuable communication and technical skills that will contribute to the economic development of Pittsburgh’s entertainment industry. Our pathway (Scouting for Talent – Teen Film Crew – Mentorship), leads students from general engagement, to active participation, and more advanced support and mentoring.
This progressive pathway will:
- Teach youth basic production techniques by creating independent video projects
- Advance them to more complex project-based and team-based projects where they create videos for real clients
- Match them with working industry professionals.
