Cycling education and advocacy for youth to ride safely in the city

Positive Spin is MGR Youth Empowerment’s bicycle safety and advocacy summer program for youth. Taking part in Positive Spin gives riders a chance to learn how to ride safely, how to navigate the city’s trails and streets, and to realize what advocacy can mean to their lives. Positive Spin cultivates critical thinking skills to question the larger picture of cycling and equity in transportation, while also teaching everyday skills like how to change flats or do roadside repairs. It’s more than just a class on bikes–it’s a place to learn about what cycling is, how it can be used as an alternative means of transportation, its role as part of a healthy lifestyle, and more.

This program is part of Pittsburgh City of Learning, an initiative of The Sprout Fund. Learn more at the launch event on June 10th.
