Game-based curriculum, Angry Birds with fractions, Common Core aligned

Do you have students that struggle with Fractions? You aren’t alone. According to the National Mathematics Advisory Panel, fractions are are one of the biggest barriers to math achievement in both elementary school, middle school and beyond.

In partnership with researchers at Carnegie Mellon University, Playpower Labs has released Fraction Planet, a new game-based curriculum for teaching fractions at any age: elementary school, middle school and beyond. This release is made possible with support from the Grable Foundation, The Sprout Fund’s Spark program, and the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.

Fraction Planet is like Angry Birds meets the common core: a fun and challenging set of games that align to over 50 common core standards in math.

Playpower encourages educators, especially those teaching math in grades 3 – 8, to sign up and try this new approach to STEM education. Signing up a class takes just minutes and the software is very easy to use.

Fraction Planet is still in ‘beta’, so feedback is appreciated. Any questions about Fraction Planet? Send Playpower anĀ email.
