FAME acts to provide talented disadvantaged African American students access to college preparatory education at independent schools through need-based financial assistance.

FAME’s mission is to provide talented African American students access to college preparatory education at participating independent schools in the greater Pittsburgh area through the provision of need based financial assistance. FAME also provides support to scholars and alumni throughout their academic careers. Ultimately, through this work, FAME’s intention is to increase the number of African American leaders in the greater Pittsburgh region.

FAME also offers a middle school enrichment program (the FAME Academy) that maximizes the long-term academic potential of talented, self-motivated African American students by addressing the need for accelerated learning opportunities during early stages of education.  FAME Academy prepares minority students from the Pittsburgh area to thrive at independent high school through summer and weekend learning opportunities.
