Educating and inspiring with science and technology

The Science Center is located on Pittsburgh’s North Shore along the banks of the Ohio River, covering five floors in its main building, plus the Highmark SportsWorks in an adjacent building and the USS Requin submarine docked at the river’s edge.┬áRecipient of the 2003 National Award for Museum Service, the ┬áScience Center inspires and entertains by connecting science and technology with everyday life in an array of hands-on exhibits geared toward children and youth but exciting for adults as well.

As one of the four Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh, the Science Center not only provides valuable scientific experiences, but also engages in outreach programs that serve Pittsburgh’s diverse community. It houses programs like the Chevron STEM Center, facilities like the Omnimax Theatre and new Buhl Planetarium, and is the location for countless youth education activities throughout the year.
