The Brashear Association provides human and community services to more than 5,000 South Pittsburgh residents every year.

The Brashear Association serves people in poverty – from those facing temporary challenges to families living in chronic, multi-generational poverty – and works to move them toward self-sufficiency. Brashear understands that moving children, families and adults from the margins means surrounding those facing hardships with a strong community infrastructure. Low-income individuals and families are connected to the services and resources needs to become more self-sufficient.

Brashear Association’s education programs make the most of its community partnerships, offering an array of options for children to develop skills and creativity. Children enjoy activities in their neighborhood as well as venues throughout the city. Parents can rely on Brashear’s trusted ad safe locations right in the neighborhood where children grown and learn through homework assistance, recreation, team building, exercise and the arts. The Brashear Association’s Teen Education out of school time services are based out of The Hilltop YMCA and the Elementary Education out of school time services are based out of Allentown Learning and Engagement Center.

Brashaear serves the South Pittsburgh communities of Allentown, Arlington, Arlington Heights, Beltzhoover, Bon Air, Carrick, Knoxville, Mount Oliver City and Borough, South Side Flats and South Side Slopes.
