On May 13 La Roche will welcome students in grades seven through 12 to explore science, technology and math fields at its first STEM Savvy event.
STEM Savvy introduces students to STEM majors and careers through hands-on experience and informative workshops. “Savvy” means there also will be a great opportunity to develop interest, excitement and self-confidence in exploring careers in the STEM leaders of tomorrow. A special session for parents and families will show how to help and prepare their students for their paths to college and career.
STEM Savvy is for students currently in seventh through 12th grade and parent/guardians that attend will have sessions to help them prepare their students for careers in STEM.
The program will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the Zappala College Center in McCandless Township.
STEM Savvy is supported by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) North Hills Pittsburgh, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. AAUW hosted a similar event at La Roche last May.
Registration is required by May 4, and there is a $5 fee. Visit laroche.edu/STEMSavvy to register for the event and to view the itinerary.
$5.00 per adult/guardian and $5.00 per student
