Staff, youth, parents, and key stakeholders invested in after-school are all welcome. Please note that there must be at least 1 adult for every 5 youth in attendance. We ask that organizations be responsible for monitoring and guiding their youth participants throughout the day.
5:00 AM – 5:15 AM: Get on the bus! There will be two bus locations that are TBD and will be located to match the need of those who sign up for the trip. APOST will provide light breakfast items for the road and there will be a 20 minute rest stop break mid-way on the trip.
8:45 AM: Bus arrives at the Capitol Building.
9:00 AM-12:00 PM: Legislative meetings & advocacy activities
12:00 PM – 12:45 PM: Lunch will be held in main cafe. (vouchers provided)
12:45 PM – 2:00 PM: PSAYDN Rally in Main Rotunda
2:15 PM: Depart Harrisburg
4:15 pm – 4:35 pm: Rest stop on PA Turnpike
6:30 – 7:00 pm: Bus will arrive in Pittsburgh. Chaperon’s are responsible for making sure that their students have secured a way home from the bus stop location.
– Please note that this experience is ideal for youth ages 12 and older.
– We ask all organizations sending youth to provide 1 adult staff chaperone for every 5 youth chaperone’s are responsible for navigating youth through the day’s activities, and managing behavior.
– Organizations will be asked to participate in a pre-trip conference call to review roles and responsibilities, and detailed information on the advocacy process.
– Seats will be filled on a first come first served basis
