The first-ever Robot Film Festival, Kids Edition! will take place Saturday morning, November 4th, at RowHouse Cinemas in Lawrenceville. Opening with a performance by a robot comedian, the 10:30am-noon event will feature short film screenings, live demos, a costume contest and the chance to interact with locally made robots. Screenings will include short films from RFF’s past five years, hand-picked for this crowd by roboticist Heather Knight. Seeking same-day submissions for robot-like creations and/or costumes. Winners will be selected and all participants acknowledged. All ages welcome!
The event will take place at Row House Cinema, a few short blocks from Carnegie Mellon University’s National Robotics Engineering Center, the location from which President Obama announced the National Robotics Initiative in 2011. Pittsburgh is home to the Robot Hall of Fame, dozens of robotics startups and research groups, and tons of talented kids and technology enthusiasts!
